About the Cover
Cover: Big Southern Butte, a rhyolitic dome, rises from the surrounding basaltic lava plain, in the high desert near the Radioactive Waste Management Area, on the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory. Recent advancements in instrumentation allow moisture monitoring of the deep, geologically complex vadose zone at this arid to semiarid site, as discussed by Deborah L. McElroy and Joel M. Hubbell in "Evaluation of the Conceptual Flow Model for a Deep Vadose Zone System Using Advanced Tensiometers," p.
170-182.
